Crown Brush Syntho Collection..

I've said it before (like a thousand times) and I'll say it again, and again and ag.. (Oh, nevermind!)

I LOVE MAKEUP BRUSHES!

Okay, now that I've got that out of the way we can move on. Hah! Sorry. But I really, really do, I mean it's like an obsession - I have way more than I'll ever be able to use in a day or an application, but I still keep on getting new ones and my collection continues to grow.

I really do believe that the makeup brush goes a long way towards makeup application. I struggle now to remember the days when I used fingers and ridiculous flimsy sponges to try to make myself look decent. Makeup brushes really made a difference when I started to use them and that's how I became obsessed. I just love trying out a shiny new brush and seeing what I can 'create' with it.

So I was super happy to try out the new Syntho* range from Crown Brush.. I mean, look at them! They are shiny and new and oh so lovely. These brushes are some the the softest I've ever used and they're all synthetic (obviously). They all do their job and apply products beautifully.

So let's go through them individually and see what they're for, and what I did with them... (From left to right)

Pointed Kabuki:

This is a lovely dense and sturdy little brush. I really like to use it for cream products, especially blush and highlighter. I did try it for foundation, which is applied smoothing, but I just like a foundation brush with a longer handle.

Deluxe Fan:

This brush was the first to catch my eye, I don't own anything so big or fluffy! It's gorgeous and soft but too large for applying anything to my face. Great at sweeping away fall out, or for dusting bronzer onto the chest area too.

Precision Powder:

I love this brush, it's a little tapered so works a treat for blush bronzer or contour (or all three!) .. It's also nice to dust your setting powder on with. The tapered point means it applies and blends really well at the same time.

Angle Shader:

This brush it pretty large and felt too big to use in the crease of my eye. I was stumped for a while, but then I used it for undereye concealer and it fit really well and got close to the eye because of the angle, it blends flawlessly too.

Deluxe Blending Crease:

This is lovely, it's just like a synthetic 217. Great for many things, eyelid, crease, concealer. It's probably one of my most used out of these. I love the 217 from MAC and I love this synthetic dupe!

Precision Crease:

This is short and stubby, kind of like a pencil brush to me. It works well on the lower out corner of the lash line and also for a really dark colour in the outer crease if you want lots of definition.

Angle Fluff:

I don't find this brush to have any 'fluff' to it really. It's soft and works well on the eyelid, but I like angled brushes to really get a clean defined line in my socked, but this doesn't have enough fluff, it's kinda flat and angled, works nicely to the inner lid because it's small.

Mini Concealer:

I thought this was an eye shader until I looked! That's what I've used it for, it packs colour onto the eye lid well, it's soft but stiff enough to pick up a good amount of shadow. I think it would work well with concealer too though.

Chisel Shader:

I love this this brush! I use it to add colour along the upper and lower lash lines. The bristle are short, stiff and they really help to define the lash line.

Brow Duo:

This is a perfect addition. Does exactly what it's supposed to, the brow brush is soft and adds shadow to the brows without being too harsh. The spoolie end it ideal for brushing through them.

Makeup Brushes: Real Techniques Core Collection.

Makeup Brushes... They are most definitely one of my biggest obsessions when it comes to buying beauty products, there is nothing quite like trying new brushes out, I love it.

I wanted to try these brushes from Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman (I love Pixiwoo!) for absolutely ages, but I never got around to it and I wasn't sure which ones I'd like to try. Ideally, I'd love to try them all out now that I know how these perform.

So anyway, I went for the Core Collection from Boots, a set especiallly for creating the perfect canvas - the flawless face. I had heard rave after rave about the buffing brush and I wanted in on that action! These haven't disappointed, I actually love all of the brushes and have used them all, the packaging and style is lovely, they are really soft synthetic bristles, and after multiple washes they have not shed or lost shape.

My Thoughts:

- Contour Brush: 

I was very excited for this brush, I usually use the MAC 168 for contour, but I loved the tapered edge of this. It works really well for a concentrated amount of contour product, but I find it quite dense in comparison to the 164, which is fluffy and blends the product too. I had to work a little more to blend with this, but it does do the job. It is really great for applying cream blusher and highlighting products too though, and I still reach for my 168 for contouring.

- Pointed Foundation Brush: 

This brush is very small for a foundation brush and I wasn't sure I'd love it too much, but I tried it out and found that it had a couple of uses for me. Firstly, it's really nice for blending in concealer underneath the eyes, the pointed edge means that it fits nicely into smaller spaces. I also like this brush for adding cream highlighter to the tops of my cheekbones.

- Detailer Brush: 

Like the foundation brush, I was unsure about this, it just seemed so small, but it is wonderful for spot concealing, even the tiniest of blemishes. I also really love it for the lips and I have been known to use it on the eyes, it works great for smudging the lower lashline.

- Buffing Brush: 

The star of the show, and they are a ll good brushes. This is so dense and soft (did I mention that they are all super soft? They are!) and it works so nicely at blending and buffing product all over the face, I've used it for liquid, cream and powder foundation and it works like a charm every time, leaving a nice flawless looking face. I love it!

Amazing Dupe!! Sigma Brush Cleaning Mitt/Glove.

So there I was last week, browsing the aisles in my local Tesco, when suddenly something caught my eye. I rushed over to take a look and grabbed it off the hook to inspect it excitedly. My boyfriend followed me and gave me a look that said he thought I was going slightly crazy.

It was then that I explained to him about the cleaning glove that Sigma recently brought out for cleaning makeup brushes, and how it cost about $40, and there was so much controversy about whether or not a glove with nubs and textured bits was worth that much.

The Tesco glove had texture that I thought would be enough for removing grime out of my brushes, while keeping my hand dry, and it’s lined too.. So I purchased it and tried it as soon as I got home. It’s amazing! I am sold. I admit, when I first saw the Sigma one, I thought it was a great idea, but the price was a major turn off!

So this lovely lime green handy dandy silicone oven glove does just the job. It has a larger texture and then a finer one too, but I like to use the large one for all of my brushes.

I have to tell you, it works like a charm! Just wet the glove, dampen the brush, use a little baby shampoo and lather for a few seconds and rinse for lovely clean brushes! I like the little grip part between the thumb and fingers too; it works great for squeezing out the excess water from the brush when you’re done. The glove is textured on both sides too, so perfect for left or right handed people.

It worked amazing for the Beauty Blender Sponge too, which I always struggle to clean thoroughly.

So, if like me, you liked the idea of the Sigma glove, but didn't want to fork out a stupid amount of money, check out your local stores for silicone oven gloves. Fee from MakeupSavvy actually had the same idea and got a better deal than I did, on Ebay. Check out her post.

Japonesque: Safari Chic Bronzer Brush.

I love makeup brushes so much, they are one of my biggest obsessions when it comes to makeup and beauty and I seriously believe that brushes can transform the way you apply makeup. I often wonder how I ever used to apply makeup without brushes, but in my early teens I did!

Anyway, I really like the Japonesque brushes that I've tried so far and this is another addition to my collection. The Safari Chic Bronzer Brush*, or Kabuki. It has the cute little leopard print within the bristles which I think is a cute touch but I know others think is tacky!

It's a great little brush. Densely packed, very soft and it doesn't shed - It washes up a treat too. I can't fault it, I like everything about it, the quality is great. I like to use it for powder all over my face and occasionally bronzer, but I usually tend to use something smaller so I can contour. It's good for mineral foundations too, it buffs everything in so nicely.

Breast Cancer Awareness: Japonesque PINK Touch Up Tube.

As I am sure most of you are aware, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and with lots of brands selling pink things and donating money to the charity, I wanted to show you a cute little brush set. So let's see what we have..

01 * Small Eye Detailer

Okay, so let's break this down.

Brush 01 is a great little brush to have, it's soft, dense and is perfect for smudging along the upper and lower lashline, or for smaller detail work. I love it.

Brush 02 is a great all over shadow shader brush, it's soft and dense like the smaller version and is just great for packing on colour.

Okay, brush 03.. Foundation? Erm, I don't think so, it would take me forever to blend a facefull of foundation with this. I think this is more a synthetic concealer brush, and it's a good one, the bristles are sturdy but not too hard and it works great for eyeshadow bases aswell as concealer.

Brush 04 is a great lip brush, the bristles are the same as the 'foundation' brush, just a smaller version. It also works as a smaller detailer concealer brush.

Finally, brush 05. The was the most disappointing of them all. The bristles are coarse and scratchy and they shed a bit too much for my liking. This isn't a brush I think I would use, except maybe if I was travelling.

So there you have it. They are all handy and perfect for travelling and I am glad to have them in my collection.. Only one slight miss with the blush brush, but I can forgive that, I have tons of face brushes anyway. They are all great quality brushes that feel sturdy and they wash up well. I love the contrast of the black and bright pink colours too.

- Japonesque Makeup Tools. ♥

I LOVE Makeup Brushes. They are one of my obsessions, and I believe you can't have too many! I think I have close to 100, which I know is ridiculous, but I love them sooo much! I especially have a thing for eyeshadow and crease brushes, but I love them all.

I have recently been playing with these lovely Japonesque Makeup Brushes*. I had never heard of the brand until quite recently when they were popping up on lots of blogs, after being made more available in Boots and John Lewis.

Here are the brushes I have.

1. This brush is cute! The travel sizes have a reasonably lengthed handle that is easy enough to use. This brush is small, and I found that it worked well for lining the lower lash line. It's too small and stiff to lay colour down, but is great for smudging out liner.

2. Oh how I love this brush! It is large and fluffy, as the title suggests! It is great for a wash of colour on the lid, or my personal favourite, which is highlighting the brow bone. The soft bristles lay the colour down and blend it perfectly. This is also large enough for the face and I love it for highlighting my face too.

3. The crease brush! I told you I love crease brushes. This brush is soft, tapered to a perfect small point for precise crease work, and is lovely and dense, so it picks up just the right amount of colour. I am so happy to have this addition to my brush collection.

4. Hmm. The lash placement kit. What to say? .. I saw a review of this somewhere once where someone raved about it, and I really wanted to see how it performed. Now, I don't struggle with lashes that much, but any help is always welcome. I'll be honest, this was a fail for me, but I have seen so many positive reviews that I am not going to give up. I'll just practise more!

5. Believe it or not I do not own a fan brush, and never have. I really wanted one though, so was excite about this. The bristles are lovely and soft, and I love to use it for a light bronzer, blusher, or highlighting my cheeks. It's also great for sweeping away fallout from messy eye shadows. A lovely brush!

 I do have another brush which isn't photographed because it was dirty and I wanted them all clean for the picture. I will review it separately though, it is one of my faves of them all!

So all in all I really like these brushes, they feel very sturdy and are high quality, they wash really well and I haven't experienced any shedding whatsoever with any of them either, which is always a good thing.

It seems that Japonesque brushes are a little hard to find, but I am sure if you go into a larger boots store they will have a better selection than the website. Here are some of the places online where you can purchase them.

Muji Love ~ Brush Storage.

Hi Guys!

So last Thursday I did some major hauling with leftover Birthday/Christmas money. While I was out I popped into Muji (for the first time!) I've heard so much about their cool storage-y type things and I wanted to see for myself. Straight away I was looking at the Acrylic Storage section, Ohh'ing and Ahh'ing over what I could use these pots for!

In the end though, I settled for one item (for now), I got the desk pen organiser, I believe it was called, and it was around £8 (Sorry, it's not on the website that I can see -- Edit: Someone in the comments found the link - Thank you! It is here).

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, but I liked the look of it and knew it would have some use. So, I got home and had a few ideas for it, eventually deciding that I would try it for my eye make up brushes, my other idea was eye liners and mascaras, but I might get another for those.

Anyway, it works like a treat and I love it. It was a random purchase on the day, but one of my faves!

It has four back compartments which are the perfect size for your brushes, and two front portions, which I have found to be really good for my Kabuki's, something which I always struggle to store, and then just some hair clips, mini brushes and my beauty blender. I have to say, I love it! It saves so much space and is really useful, and keeps everything tidy.

I am absolutely in love with the blush brush, it's so fluffy and applies blush just perfect. I like them all though, the concealer brush is a nice larger size, which is great for larger areas.

All in all I would give this brush kit a thumbs up. They're natural, good quality and reasonably priced too! What more could a girl want?

I was recently sent this Beauty Boxes Kabuki Brush to try out and see what I thought about it. It's a really cute little kabuki with the softest hairs. It also comes with the cute little patent purse pouch, which is perfect for carrying the brush around in.

Beauty Boxes Say: This fabulously soft Kabuki brush with a big, fluffy head is ideal for applying your face powder, bronzing powder and blusher. It is made with natural goat hair and comes in its own stylish zipped pvc pouch to keep it safe and your handbag or beauty box clean.

What I Think: It's a really nice Kabuki brush. The bristles are super soft and densely packed into the brush, I have had no shedding from it and it washes lovely, and with a brush guard is shaped like new after every use. I like the little pouch idea too, I was sick of just putting a random powder brush in my make up bag and it getting ruined - but now I don't have to worry, because I have this. 

All in all this is a great quality Kabuki Brush which I would recommend if you are looking for a new one!

Max Factor Beauty Tools!

Did you know that Max Factor Have Beauty Tools? .. I was surprised when I found out last year, and was excited to try them. I did try a few last year, and recently have tried a few more.

I have the Eye Shadow Brush, The Foundation Brush, and The Powder Brush. All three are available to buy in boots and are reasonably priced.

So, what do I think of them? ....

The Eyeshadow Brush : This is a lovely soft brush, but it's densely packed and stiff too. It picks up a nice amount of product and blends it nicely. I do already own this brush, and I really love it, So I am glad that I own two. It's always good to have a back up!

The Foundation Brush : This has soft synthetic bristles that are quite flimsy. I like a soft flexible foundation brush, it blends easier and doesn't feel rough. This spreads and blends nicely. I like to use it for my Max Factor Weightless Foundation.

The Powder Brush : LUSH. Love this brush, It's mahoosive! It's so soft (just like their blush brush which I own) .. It's the perfect body/bronzer/all over powder brush. I've been using this regularly with my setting powder. It really is a gorgeous quality brush.

I love all of the Max Factor brushes that I have tried and I would recommend them to anybody. The are available to buy from Boots.com

» Primark FTW !!

Yes indeed. I know that Primark is a bit hit and miss, I admit that, but when they get it right it's great, because for a bargain price, you get something fab!..

Take this brush for instance, It's around £2.00 (or so) and is amazing! It's soft, dense, washes amazingly well and best of all, it's purple! For the price it is outstanding, and I love to use this with my mineral powder, it really feels velvety on the skin.

The bristles are a little bit flimsy and the brush isn't as dense as it could be, but it is dense enough to buff in your powder foundation. I have no complaints, it doesn't even shed, It's fabulous!

It's love for me, I think it is fabulous! I also love their duo foundation / concealer brush too, which is pink! :)

» Boots No7 Eye Brushes. ♥

I love make up brushes .. probably maybe even a tiny bit more than I love make up, but I dunno .. But really, before make up brushes I don't even really know what I did when I put my old slap on, funny isn't it?!

I remember the first brushes I got, a cheap set in a pleather case, they were quite scratchy and not that good, but I loved them and they transformed the way I did my make up! Then I bought the #224 from M.A.C and I was in blending heaven.

Yeah. You get the idea, don't you?

So now I have about 70 brushes, lots of which do the same thing but I need them, and I can't stop buying more! .. Two recent purchases are these little gems from Boot's No 7 range. I got them when they were giving out the £5 off vouchers, so I only paid £1.50 a brush (RRP £6.50) .. I love them, they are cheap, cheerful and they do the job well.

Meet the eye colour brush. This is an all over eyeshadow kinda of brush with is really great to use with wet eyeshadows and pigments. It has first bristles, but they are soft. This really packs on the colour too, It's great.

Now for the smokey eyeliner brush, I love this brush! .. As soon as I saw it in the shop I was like 'Need It!' and I did, it's just so small and perfect for the upper and lower lashline and for smudging out, I think I've used this almost daily since I got it.

I also have had the blending brush from them for a while, I never included it, but maybe should have. It's pretty much a dupe for the #217 by M.A.C .. So, next time you have some £5 off vouchers, or even if you don't - head down to Boots and grab some of these, They are truly a keeper!

Review on some ELF Goodies!

Hey All! .. I have recently been trying out some lovely goodies from ELF and I have to say that I have been so impressed by all of them and I definitely want to try more from them in future!

The first thing I want to mention is the ELF Studio Powder Brush, This is a large flat top brush with synthetic Taklon hairs, It can be used with wet or dry products.

-Creates a professional sculpted look
-Full coverage color
-Use for powder or blush for perfect contouring

This brush is fantastic! It only costs £3.50 and it is so, so soft! The bristles feel velvety smooth against the skin and I can't believe the quality for the price of it. ELF Say that you can use this for contouring, but I personally find it a little too large for that. I do however love to use it to apply my liquid foundation, It gives an airbrushed flawless finish that is so smooth. It's also really good for buffing in mineral and pressed powders.

Next up is something I had seen many times on various blogs and you tube videos, and it is one of the cream eyeshadow duos, I opted for Black Licorice.

A lovely black and silver cream eyeshadow which are perfect for using as a base under eyeshadow or for wearing alone. I'm not gonna lie, they do crease, but give me a creamy consistency eyeshadow that doesn't! I love these though, they sit well under a shadow to give that extra depth of colour. I also love the black slicked over the lid on it's own for a glossy smoky eye, it looks fab! The best thing about this is that it's only £1.50 and they are so many colour options!

Lastly, I tried one of their Therapeutic Conditioning Lip Balm's. I tried the Blackberry flavour and it tastes delicious! This is a really lovely moisturising lip balm that I like to put on before bed, It can feel slightly greasy, but that's because of how hydrating it is. When I go to bed with this on, I can still feel it on my lips in the morning. The scent it lovely, and it adds a nice colourless shine to my lips,. This is only £1.50 too!

ELF Large Brush Holder «

Excuse the toothbrush.. I don't brush my teeth with it, honest! It's for my brows.. ;)

I was recently tweeting lots about make up storage, and how desperate I was for a new way to store my brushes. My collection just seemed to be growing and I was fast running out of room to store them.

Enter the Elf Large Brush Holder. This thing saved the day, seriously! It has three large compartments to store things in, be it brushes, eye pencils, mascaras, whatever you choose. When I first saw it I was so excited, but still unsure whether it would be enough to store them all in, but to my amazement, it is!

The stylish and sleek makeup compartments hold your brushes, makeup pencils, tools and more. The professional storage dividers keep everything organized for quick use. The luxurious material is easy to clean and durable for storing on countertops or in cabinets.

 I have about 70 brushes in total I think, and that is the majority of them, right there. The holder is really well made, very sturdy and quite heavy without the brushes in it. It holds them perfectly and looks nice too, unlike the cheap glass jars that I was using before. The outter packaging of the brush holder has a rubbery feeling (nars-esque-ish feeling?) which makes it easy to grip if you're picking it up to move it or anything, and it says 'Eyes Lips Face' across the front which is cute..

You can buy the ELF Large Brush holder online here, for just £12. They also sell a smaller one for just £5. Sadly the large one is out of stock at the moment, but keep a look out for it, It's great!

A Very Special Aussie Prize Package!

Remember this? .. It seems like forever ago doesn't it?

Well, my prize for that competition was going to be a day with a Makeup artist (Nic of Pixiwoo), following them around and learning some stuff from them.. However, due to other commitments she had to pull out.

Then I was informed by Aussie that they would arrange something else with another makeup artist, which was fine.. I was invited along to London one day, but I only had a couple of days notice and could not make it.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, between us we recently decided that I would be given a special prize instead, which I was more than happy with as it just seemed like everything was against us.

I got my prize yesterday and I am sooo chuffed with what I was sent. It seems like the Aussie team really put thought into what they got for me, because they are all things I love/want/need! :)

This is my signature scent, I have been wearing it since I was 18 and I love it.. How did they know that? I am impressed, I love it soo much, it smells divine!

Look at this gorgeous little brush holder! It's really dainty and vintage-y looking. It's really cute and looks lovely on my makeup table.. I was only saying recently how I wanted new storage for brushes!

I was bowled over by these!! They had taken the time to find out what I liked and knew that I am like the biggest EVER fan on True Blood, and so they got me the set of books. I have been lemming these for some time and I am sooooooo excited to own them! :)

Max Factor MakeUp Brushes..

I was so pleasantly surprised when I heard that Max Factor has bought out a range of MakeUp Brushes.

I am a self confessed make up brush addict and believe you can never have too many. It's funny, because when you start with makeup you just want to buy make up all of the time, but when you realise how much difference using a brush to apply it with makes, they become an obsession too! They did for me anyway.

So, when I was sent these to try I was chuffed to see how they would perform. I got the Blusher Brush (£11), The Eyeshadow Brush (£6) and the Eye Definer Brush (£6). They are all really cute, They are sturdy and good quality, and have short handles, so are perfect for travel!

The Blusher brush has lovely soft bristles and is really fluffy. It picks up the right amount of product and blends it really well onto the cheeks. It hasn't shed one single hair for me, and I have washed it numerous times. This is a lovely brush!

This is my fave of the bunch, When I first saw it I just thought it looked like a pretty average brush, but it is perfect. It's very flat with soft bristles, yet it is dense and has a nice stiffness to it. It picks up and deposits colour perfectly.

I'll admit now, this is a strange one, and I just looked at it for a few days thinking 'what am I gonna do with you' .. I'm not sure how it's an eye definer brush. It's a small angled brush, but it's not thin enough for liner. I think it could be good for defining the crease I guess, but when I finally used it I found it the perfect size for lining the lower lash line, and for the eyebrows too!

Review - The Brush Guard!

I have recently tried out the amazing Brush Guard. It is a plastic woven sleeve that you slip over the handle of your make up brushes, and up over the bristles.

It works perfectly when drying your brushes as it reshapes them as they dry so that when you remove the brush guard they are like when you first bought them again.

This product has seriously become a product that I will always use now.
