Loving .. Eye of Horus Smokey Eye Pencil.

I love eyeliner. I love trying new eyeliners and comparing them to the current fave eyeliner that I am using, whatever that may be. It's like a never ending search for a perfect smudgy, black, long lasting, waterproof eye pencil that stays on the waterline.

This smokey eye pencil* by Eye of Horus (a brand which is new to me) is an excellent eyeliner choice. As you can see from the swatch above, it is the blackest of black, and to add to that, it smudges really well (with the smudger on the other end of the pencil), but you have to be quick because once it sets in place it ain't going anywhere for a while. This is very possibly the blackest liner I own and the one that lasts the best on my waterline. Up until now I've been trying out all sorts, which were good - but not quite as good as this one.

.. The smokey eye pencil from Eye of Horus is uniquely formulated with Jojoba Wax and Mango Oil, and is 100% waterproof, so it glides on without tearing and stays on without imprints on eye lids.

Liz Earle Colour: Makeup.

If you know me and you have been a reader of my blog for a while then you will have seen me write many positive reviews about Liz Earle products in the past. They sell some of the best skincare products (in my opinion) and some gorgeous body and hair care products too.

Almost a year ago they dipped their toe into the beauty world with their Sheer Skin Tint which I have reviewed and I still absolutely love. But very recently they have released their full makeup collection: Liz Earle Colour.

I have their black eyeliner pencil* and their light reflecting concealer*, which I have been playing with for a few weeks now.

"Enhance the shape and beauty of your eyes with our silky, long-lasting formula. It glides on smoothly and evenly to create striking definition. Enriched with our own natural source vitamin E."

The Eye Pencil is £11 and available in three colours. I have the black one, and wow is it black! This could possibly be one of the blackest pencil liners I have ever used. I didn't expect much from it to be honest and thought it would just be an eye pencil, but it is a highly pigmented, smooth, creamy, long lasting eye pencil. This has been my go to since I got it. If you're in need of a new black pencil, I highly suggest trying this.

 "Our multi-tasking, silky formula blends smoothly over bare skin or make up, to help disguise signs of tiredness and add radiance by brightening dark circles and subtly highlighting cheek and brow bones."

The Light Reflecting Concealer hasn't really wowed me to be honest. I mean, it is a good concealer, it covers and brightens under the eyes good enough for me, but it isn't very light reflecting. The website says you could highlight your face with it, I don't think it reflects light enough for that. That's not to say it isn't a good product, for me it is a decent under eye concealer. It is smooth and creamy and blends nicely without creasing. I also must add that the silver packaging for this is so swish looking and feels very expensive.

Liquid Liner Loving - Barry M Wink Eyeliner.

I love liquid eyeliner, for me it is a must have and completes a look for me. I seem to have gotten a bit of an obsession with these felt tip pen liquid eyeliners recently, and when I saw this 'Wink Marker' from Barry M I couldn't resist.. Even though I have a couple of pen liners in my back up that are currently unopened! What can I say? I'm a makeup addict!

"Barry M’s Wink is a liquid eyeliner pen that is set to revolutionise your makeup routine. The thick felt tip nib enables you to achieve varying thickness by adjusting the pressure and the angle of the pen, giving you a professional look."

The packaging is funky and bright, and just like a jumbo sized pen, the nib on the liner is a little bigger than I am used to but it's quite soft and the very tip has some flexibility so it's nice and easy to use. The pigmentation is very good, the liner is very black and dries quickly. It's not waterproof though, I'm used to liners that are not easy to remove, and this is.. but I don't mind that, it lasts all day on me and doesn't smudge or budge.

Urban Decay 'Gash' Liquid Eyeliner.

Hey Lovelies, Happy October! I have a little review today! ...

This was the first and (so far) only Urban Decay Liquid Eyeliner I have ever tried, I picked it up in TK Maxx while out shopping one day. It's a liner that I'd had my eye on for ages after seeing girls on you tube using it. So when I saw it, I snapped it up.

First off, I love the packaging of the liner, it's really unique looking, and the actual brush itself is really nice to use, and very fine, which for me is always a must. It's not too soft and floppy either, it gives a nice clean line without the bristles splaying all over.

This shade is so lovely and unusual. I haven't used it as much as I would like, but it's not your every day liner - I might use it at Halloween though, I think it will be perfect for that!

The formula of the liner is great, it's not too thin at all, and it dries super quickly. Once it's on and set it doesn't budge all day. No crumbling, smudging, nothing. I'd like to try this in black, for every day.

Blink Intense Kajal Pencil.

I was recently sent the 'Blink Kajal' to try out .. Now, I love my Urban Decay 24/7 liners and my Gosh Waterproof pencils soon. But I was excited to see how this would perform and if I would like it as much as I like the other liners that I use..

"This beautiful smudgy eyeliner is perfect for creating that smoky eye effect. The pencil is smooth and soft for easy application. It contains waxes derived from olive and jojoba oil and is free of mineral oil and preservatives. The liner is long lasting and has a smudger on the end to create your desired look."

 

 I do really like it! It has this smudger on one end so you can do a really nice smoky liker with it if you want to, The smudger is soft and does blend the liner well. The liner itself is great, It is a very pigmented black, very soft and smudgeable. I wondered if it being free of oils and preservative would make it last for longer, and it certainly did - This liner lasted the majority of the day for me, which is a result. I would recommend this if you are looking for a new smudgy soft black kohl pencil.

« First Look! : Free Barry M Makeup Kit.

Hello Lovelies!

Do you remember last week when I told you about the FREE Barry M Makeup Kit that is available with the Sun Newspaper's BUZZ Magazine on 12th Feb? .. Well I have been sent one before they come out, to show you all and do a little review on!

I've spent today trying out the goodies and I have to say, They're pretty cute and I like them all.

The three items that you will get are a nail paint, super shiny lipgloss and a kohl pencil. The gloss and polish are new shades, and the pencil is something that they always sell.

The Nail Paint : This is a very unusual shade, kinda raspberry red / rosy / pink .. I'm finding it difficult to describe, I even asked my other half what colour he would call it, and he just said it looked like a red/pink (useful!) .. Unfortunately it doesn't have a name, but I would call it a rosy pink colour, slightly on the coral side, but very vivid and pretty! It was pretty much opaque in one coat, but I used two, and it has a very slight shimmer in it, like just random bits of glitter that don't really show up in the pics. All in all, a nice shade of polish, and one which I am happy to have, It's quite unusual but pretty.

The Super Shiny Lipgloss : This is one of the Barry M Tube Glosses, I own a couple already, but nothing like this shade. Again, it doesn't have a name, but it's a creamy baby pink colour, it's pigmented and looks nice alone, or to accompany a pink / nude lipstick. The only small complaint I have with this is the taste - It smells kinda vanilla-y but it leaves a soapy taste on my tongue which I don't enjoy.. It's weird, and I'm unsure about why it tastes a bit weird. Other than that, it's a nice colour..

The Kohl Pencil : This is something I already own. The Barry M Kohl is a nice one, it's a dark black, soft and great for the waterline and lashline. It's not waterproof so doesn't last all day, but it's a nice smudgy pencil that is perfect for a smokey eye.

» MUA Budget Range!

I am sure that most of you have probably seen numerous posts about the budget MUA range from Superdrug, most of you have probably tried it out already, but I'm really behind, ok! :) MUA (Make Up Academy) is a brand that has a range in Superdrug where every item is only £1.

I have been trying some of their goodies out for the past few weeks though, and today I want to talk about them and what I think.

Firstly, I remember when the MUA brand was sold in TJ Hughes, I had some of their eyeshadow quads, glitter liners, a blusher and lipstick.It was ok, but I wasn't overly impressed. It seems that they have now redesigned the packaging and everything, so I was interested to see what it was like now.

Firstly, I have seven on the eyeshadows. The first four are 'Pearl' which are shimmery, and the bottom three are matt shades.

 

I like the 'Pearl' finish eyeshadows, the pigmentation for £1 is impressive. The matt shades however were a little disappointing with quite poor pay off. They are very sheer and powdery, and sadly they didn't last for long.

 Next up are a couple of the lip glosses, these are really nice! They are pigmented, they smell sweet and are not too sticky. I am definitely wanting to try some more colours of the glosses, take a look :

See the pretty shimmers in shade 2? Love it!

Last up, and something else that impressed me loads in the liquid eye liners. The packaging is good, and the colour pay off is amazing. Once they are dry they do not budge easily, These are a sure winner! The only thing you have to wait a little longer for, is when you apply them they take a little longer than most to dry, but when they are dry, they are good.

How gorgeous is shade 3? .. It's a current fave! :)

So that's my lot for now.. I want to try some more glosses and shimmer eyeshadows. The quality of everything is really impressive for £1 per item, But I would probably skip the matt eyeshadows, they just didn't show up or last well on me.

Eyeko Graffiti Eyeliner!..

This is love.. I love this eyeliner, so so much!

I was sent this to try a few weeks ago and haven't stopped using it, it is so amazing. Look how thin the felt tip is!?

It is so easy to use, It's firm but soft and helps to create the perfect line, thick or think, and it makes flicks easy peasy!

I am a sucker for felt tip liners, because they are just so simple to use, you really can't go wrong, I highly recconmend this one. It is available in four shades and costs £5, from the Eyeko Website..

Mine is in the shade Navy, which is also great for brightening the eyes, as navy mascaras and liners are. It is a lovely rich blue that is so pigmented, It's staying power is really good and this lasts all day on me and comes off with my usual make up remover. The swatch I did hung around for ages!

I highly suggest you try this out if you haven't! I want to get all of them :)

Collection 2000 Glam Metallics.

One of the newer offerings from the Collection 2000 drugstore range are these metallic liquid liners. I was sceptical at first, but it is actually really good!

I could compare it to a MAC liquid last liner, it lasts for so so so long and is quite difficult to remove without a good make up remover. The swatch below was on my hand for ages.

The consistency of the liner is nice and smooth, pigmented and not gloopy what so ever, I've had it for a while too and it hasn't gone thick at all (Like the MAC ones tend to...)

This is just a fraction of the price and alot bigger than the MAC too, this was less than a fiver and is definitely comparable.

L'oreal Carbon Black Super Liner! ♥

I know that many of you have probably all seen and heard about this liquid eye-liner from L'Oreal before.

I've had this for a while now, and it is one of my favourite liquid liners, it is the blackest black, and the thing that makes it so nice and easy to use is the thin felt tip applicator, as you can see it is like a fine felt tip pen, and it just glides over the lash line so nicely and is perfect for creating thin lines and flicks.

It really does make lining the eyes so easy and I reach more for this than my Mac fluid line. I think felt tip liquid liners are the best!

Quick Tip - Eyeliner!

This is a kinda cheesy idea, but I like it! You gotta love a bit'o cheeeeeze! :)

I thought I would post really short posts every now and then with quick beauty type tips, or maybe tips for all sorts of things, who knows!

So to start off with I want to share something that I always found helpful when learning to use liquid liner.

I would always use a pencil first to line my upper lashline, Kind of as a template, It makes it so much easier to trace over the line with liquid when you have a guideline drawn on. Try it out!

That's all the cheese I got for now! lol

Is this a silly idea? Should I not bother? Hmm!

Barry M - Metallic Liquid Eyeliners

When I was offered the chance to try out these new eye-liners from Barry M I was really pleased, I had had my eyes on them for a while and so snapped them up. I really love Barry M stuff and am always up for trying out their new products to see what I think of them.

I think these liners are perfect for the festive season, they all have great staying power and a lovely shimmer to them, they are not overly metal looking, it's just a lovely subtle undertone shimmery sheen.

My fave is the black because it is a colour I wear more often but the others are really well pigmented and vibrant too. They also have really good staying power and dry pretty quick too.

The packaging is the same as with all Barry M liquid liners, the brush is a pointed firm, but soft felt tip type applicator which I really like to use. The only thing I would like is if the handle was longer on the liner brush, I find pen lenth liner brushes/applications much easier to use, but I know some people who prefer shorter handles too, So I guess that is a personal preference.

Review : Barry M Pencils.

Hi Guys, Today I'm going to do a review on a few things from Barry M. Firstly the Supersoft eye crayons and also their Kohl pencil liners.

I'll start with the Supersoft crayons. These are available from the usual places that stock Barry M (Boots & Superdrug), and the Barry M website for £3.95 each.

I had never tried these until recently and I have to say I am really impressed. I have one of the new matte shades in 'Matte Green' and a normal one in 'Purple'.



They both apply so smoothly and have a really creamy blendable texture, the pigmentation is great and you can go for a really opaque finish or blend it out for a more sheer look. The green is a lovely bright fresh colour and the purple is quite a pale lilac and has a shimmery/metallic type of finish, although it's not over the top. I didn't find the purple quite as smooth to apply as the green, which for me was just a tiny bit softer.

For me they both make a great base to apply other eye shadows on top of. However, they will crease after a few hours of wear, unless you wear some sort of eyeshadow primer underneath, such as urban decay primer potion or something similar.

All in all I really like these and plan on trying some more colours, the black and pink in particular have caught my eye. I do wish Barry M would make a matte white one though, Kinda like NYX's Milk Jumbo pencil (Which isn't easily available in the UK). I would LOVE that and I'm sure many others would too!

.... So, on to the Barry M Kohl pencils available from the same places as above for £2.95, These come in a huge range of colours too!

I have been using the black and brown ones of these for quite some time and have back ups because I like them so much So I was looking forward to trying out some new shades, I got shades #4 - Navy Blue and #15 - Pastel Lilac to try out.



The Navy Blue one is lovely! this is my new favourite liner, the colour is gorgeous and the pigmentation is very strong, it is soft, applies smoothly and is easy to smudge on the eye, It shows vividly in the waterline and isn't a flat blue, it's dark, but has a lovely brightness to it at the same time (Gee, I hope that makes sense!) You would need to try it to see what I mean, but trust me, It is a gorgeous colour.

The Lilac is a pale pastel colour that unfortunately because of being so pale doesn't show on my waterline, it does however make a really nice light base for pink and purple eye shadows on the eyelid, it applies smoothly like the Navy Blue and it blends out nicely too, without pulling on the eyelid.

The only thing about the Barry M Kohl Liners is that they don't last for THAT long because they are not waterproof, They probably last about 3/4 hours before you need to reapply. But If you are looking for a longer lasting option, Barry M sell waterproof intense eyeliner pens, so give those a try instead.
